He served as an adviser of law to the non-party caretaker government in two successive terms. Ahmed was appointed additional attorney general in 1972 and attorney general in 1976. He was the permanent representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in 1978. He was recruited as a member of the International Election Observer Group and monitored the national elections of Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives. He served as an adviser to the Caretaker government of Bangladesh in 1991 and again in 2001. He was twice elected president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, during 1978–79 and 1989–90.

 

Rafique Ul Huq (2 November 1935 – 24 October 2020) was a Bangladeshi barrister who served as the Attorney General of Bangladesh in 1990. Huq served as the counsel of the then Bangladesh Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia when they were charged with corruption cases during the 2006–08 Bangladeshi political crisis. Huq served as the chairman at Bangladesh Bar Council Tribunal and Bar Council Election Tribunal during 1975–1976. He was a member of the Company Law Reform Committee in 1977. He played a key role in enacting several laws including the Bangladesh Bank Orders and those relating to private investment. 

 

Mahmudul Islam (24 July 1936 – 16 February 2016) was a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He served as the 10th Attorney General of Bangladesh. e served as an Assistant Attorney General from 1972 until 1976. He served as the Attorney General from 1998 to 2001. Islam wrote books titled “Constitutional Law of Bangladesh”, “Law of Civil Procedure”‘ and “Interpretation of Statutes and Document”.
